What we do

We build the things that make the back of a house worth spending time on — decks, screened porches, pergolas, covered structures and railings — for homeowners in Griffin and the towns around Spalding County.

Most of our work is residential, and most of it starts the same way: someone has a back door that opens onto nothing much, or a deck that has quietly got past the point of being safe to have people standing on. We come and look, tell you honestly what you are dealing with, and put a number on it in writing.

How we like to work

Three things, and they are not complicated.

Say what it will cost, in writing, before starting. You should be able to hold our estimate next to anyone else’s and compare like for like.

Tell you when you do not need the bigger job. If a repair will get you five more good years, we will say so, even though a rebuild is the bigger ticket.

Get the hidden parts right. Footings, framing, how the deck attaches to the house, how railing posts are anchored. Nobody admires those. They are the whole reason a deck lasts.

Experience, and the paperwork behind it

The owner has been building outdoor structures for over 30 years. That is the part that shows up in the details — knowing which way a deck wants to drain before it is framed, or spotting from the driveway that a ledger was never flashed.

Decked Out Living is veteran owned, family run and locally owned. It is run out of Griffin by people who live here, so the person who quotes the job is the person you see on it.

The business is licensed and insured. You are welcome to ask to see either at the estimate, and we would think better of you for asking. Anyone who gets awkward about that question is telling you something.
